Climate Emergency – Call for Action

CSD brought various exciting and enriching events this year, focused on sparking conversations about the critical topic of Climate action and the urgency for it in recent times. Making the successful Sustainability Leadership Summit an annual occurrence, CSD organized the Summit this year on 26th November with the theme “Climate Emergency – Call for Action”.
As part of the annual events, CSD also conducted the Second edition of the National Youth Climate Conclave, culminating on 25th November this year with the final round that brought together students from across the country competing in the mock conference of parties in line with the COP29 at Baku.

India’s Sustainability @ 75 : Achievements, Challenges and Prospects

On the occasion of celebration of 75th India’s Independence (Amrit Mahotsav) and completion of 20th year of Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD), Bengaluru.
CSD organized a grand 2-day event consisting of many activities and events which brought together some of the most influential, bright and passionate personalities, youth and the like.

Bengaluru Environment Report Card 2021 (ERC)

Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) released the Bengaluru Environment Report Card 2021 (ERC) yesterday, 23rd August, 2022 at the IAS Officers Association, Infantry Road, Bengaluru.
The Environment Report Card 2021, Bengaluru was released by our honoured guest, Shri. Vijay Mohan Raj, Principal Secretary of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) and Shri. G. Gurucharan, IAS (Retd.) Director of the Public Affairs Centre (PAC), Dr A. Ravindra, Chairman of Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) & Ex-Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, Shri. Srinivasulu, Member Secretary of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB), Dr. Gopichand Katragadda, Founder and CEO of Myelin Foundry, Dr. Ashwin Mahesh, Co-Founder of Mapunity and Dr R. Srinivas, Executive Director of CSD and Green Skills Academy.
Those present at the book ceremony expressed gratitude to CSD for their efforts in publishing the third edition of the Bengaluru report card, which has also raised the point that every government and environmentalist should begin ‘speaking’ to each other for the betterment of the city and state of Karnataka.

Seminar -The outcome of Paris Summit (COP 21) on Climate Change and its implications for India

CSD successfully conducted a one-day interactive session on “The outcome of Paris Summit (COP 21) on Climate Change and its implications for India” on the 22nd of January 2016. The seminar was a discussion with the respected panel and professional community about the commitments India will pursue as an answer to the Conference of Parties 21 (COP21) initiative to reduce the impacts of climate change.

Training Programme on Resource Conservation and Management

Two Days Training Programme on Resource Conservation and Management (Energy, Water and Waste) for the Department of Social Welfare (Karnataka) was organised by Centre for Sustainable Development in association with Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Society, Bangalore.

Food safety Awareness Programmes, 2015

As part of   Food safety Awareness Programmes, CSD conducted 2 day training program on “Food Safety and Hygiene   for   Employees of Department of Health and Food safety this program is supported by Public Health Institute, Government of Karnataka. The programme was conducted in the month of March 2015 at Sangama, Executive Development Centre, Institute of Hotel Management, Bangalore.

Smart City Initiative Stakeholders Meet, September 29th, 2014

Building Smart cities or upgrading existing ones into ‘Smart’ will be formidable challenge. Government, Industry and the citizens have to play a key role in taking forward this initiative and transform our cities into modern and sustainable urban centers.

A Two Day Program On Corporate Sustainability – 10th And 11th September

Centre for Sustainable Development recently organized a unique two-day program on Corporate Sustainability on the 10th & 11th of September, 2014 in Bangalore. The program was attended by representatives from senior management positions in the Government, Public and Private sector. 

One day Smart City Orientation Program On June 12th, 2014

CSD conducted its first workshop on Smart Cities Capacity building for City government officials. The programme aimed at acquainting the city officials with various subjects of Smart Cities starting from the basic concept to elements of Smart governance, smart energy systems, intelligent water programme by IBM, use of mobile for ICT and policies that will accelerate the growth of new and innovative cities. CSD also presented its proposed plan of Devanahalli region as a smart and sustainable region.

World Environment Day Celebrations at CSD 5th-7th June 2014

We at Centre for Sustainable Development have successfully completed various activities like Human Message Chain (5th June 14), Dry Waste Segregation training (6th June 14) and Eco Santhe (7th June 14) as part of World Environment Day Celebrations.

Food Safety Act Awareness Session

Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD), had organized an event on Food Safety Act – 2006 on 3rd May 2014, at CSD office premises. As part of this event a demo was also organized to enlighten citizens, on simple ways to find adulteration in various kinds foods we use on day to day basis, like Sweets, Milk, vegetables, fruits, oils and other items like pepper, turmeric etc.

Dr. Ravindra, Chairman of CSD has delivered introductory speech, on Food Safety Act. Mr. Ramamurthy – Retired Sr. Food Inspector has explained about Food Safety Act, citizen’s responsibilities and what citizens should know about it. & Mr. Iqbal – Retired Bio Chemist, has demonstrated how to find adulterations in various kinds of foods we use. Mr. Iqbal also demonstrated on safe & simple cleaning methods to clean vegetables, before using them.

Annual Water Conference 2014, by CII

Dr. Ravindra has chaired the session on “Urban Water Resources Management” at the CII Annual Water Conference held on 12th March 2014 at Hotel ITC Windsor in Bangalore. Participants have appreciated the inputs of Dr. Ravindra, Chairman, Centre for Sustainable Development, on the topic.
