Food Safety Implementation Plan and Pilot Implementation in Rural and Urban areas of Karnataka, implemented for Food Safety and Standards Authority, Government of India
Food safety and standards Authority, India, gave pilot project of implementation of the Food safety and Standards act to IIM Bangalore and CSD Bangalore. Pilot project is to implement the above act in one of the areas of Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and one Panchayat area in rural sector. CSD selected Jayanagar in Bangalore South and Kachakarnahalli in Banaswadi area in East zone of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. Mavanahalli a rural panchayat in Gubbi Taluk of Tumkur District was selected for the above study.
In the first phase, collection of existing food practices, administrative set up and target groups for further implementation was done. By the help of hotel management students a survey was conducted and data collected.
The next stage is to develop a soft ware so that collected data can be stored for further usage. Also CSD developed soft ware and a web site. The same has been presented both to Food safety Authority of India and Commissioner, Food Authority of Karnataka. The developed web site can be used for data base collection and web information for the consumers by the authorities.
